Calling All Students and Grads
“One of our stylists started with us right out of school, and within 4 years became an award-winning manager. I have another stylist who started with us at the age of 18 and has since been able to buy a car and a house,” said Michael, the general manager for a franchisee who owns and operates 54 Great Clips® salons in Indiana and Ohio.
With more than 4,400 salons across the U.S. and Canada serving 1.7 million customers weekly, the franchisees who independently own and operate Great Clips® salons are always on the lookout for great talent. Often, they partner with local cosmetology and barber schools to help encourage and train students and provide opportunities for new stylists to apply for salon roles.
“We look for students and new graduates who are eager to learn, professional, positive, and team players,” Michael said. “We pride ourselves on hiring stylists at all haircutting skill levels. We want to help new stylists build strong customer service and haircutting efficiencies. Our focus is on helping our new hires develop great salon habits.”
To connect with students, Michael’s organization partners with multiple schools across Indiana. “We participate in cosmetology career fairs and open houses, and teach classes on haircutting, professionalism, interviewing, and healthy living. We also offer an apprentice program for students who have reached their last 300 hours of school. It gives them a chance to see what our culture is like, and how to run a salon efficiently,” Michael said.
“When we visit schools,” Michael added, “and students can see the recent graduates we have hired, they’re able to envision the success they can have with their own career at Great Clips salons.”
