Celebrity Sighting: Joey Fatone
It’s the stuff dreams are made of — meeting the celebrity you were OBSESSED with back in the day. As a teen, you had all the posters and merch, and now as an adult, you get the chance to not only meet your crush but give him a haircut!
That is exactly what stylist Cassie experienced when her employer who owns and operates multiple Great Clips® salons in Florida was asked to host the shoot for Great Clips’ 2024 back-to-school marketing campaign. The celebrity who would star in the campaign: former boyband member and pop icon Joey Fatone.
We heard through the Great Clips grapevine that Cassie was a huge Joey Fatone fan, so of course, we wanted to get the scoop on how she kept her cool with this boy band great and if he was happy with his new look.
[Interviewer:] When did you first hear Joey Fatone was coming to your salon?
[Cassie:] My employer called me and asked if I was interested in helping with the back-to-school campaign. She said, “Guess what? It’s with Joey Fatone from NSYNC and his daughter.”
How did you react?
I think my exact words were, “Oh my god, I’ve been a fan since I was a little girl! Yes!”
It sounds like you were made for this opportunity.
Growing up, I was such a Joey Fatone fan! When I was 13 years old, my entire room was covered wall-to-wall and all the way up to the ceiling with images and posters of the band. I was crushing for sure.
Did you have any doubts about saying yes?
I was so nervous, but I also knew I really wanted to cut Joey’s hair! Once I agreed to do it, I kept telling myself what an amazing opportunity this was and that I should enjoy every moment of the experience.
When the day finally arrived, how did you feel?
When I met Joey, I was so excited! I literally could not believe my luck.
Once he was seated in your chair, what happened?
I started with my normal haircut consultation to learn what he was thinking. I asked specific questions and summarized the plan before I got started. He knew exactly what he wanted, so it was easy.
How did the haircut go?
It went so well! Joey was very happy with it and his makeup artist even told me how great it was. It was wonderful to get that feedback.
How did you feel when it was all over?
Being able to cut Joey’s hair was an amazing opportunity and I will be forever grateful. I loved every moment. I am making a giant poster collage of the shoot so I can remember that day forever!
