How to Pick the Right Salon for You
Graduating from cosmetology or barber school is an exciting time. You’ve put in the work, and now you are finally able to get paid for your skills!
But before you accept the first salon job that comes your way, take a minute to reflect on what type of salon will serve your needs at this time in your career. Arielle, a Great Clips® salon stylist and National Design Team Member shares 3 things she considered when starting out:
#1 Look for a volume business
The more you practice your haircutting and barbering skills, the faster you’ll gain confidence and competency. To speed up your professional growth, look for a salon environment that will give you the chance to engage with high volumes of customers every day.
#2 Look for continuing education
You may have just finished school, but true industry professionals never stop learning. To keep your basic skills sharp while staying on top of the latest industry trends, seek out a salon that offers ongoing education and technical skills training.
#3 Look for a supportive team
A great way to learn and grow is by being surrounded by talented stylists in a safe and supportive environment. Pay close attention to the team culture and seek out a salon where the stylists genuinely care about each other.
