“When I received an email from my bank, letting me know my $20,000 student loan was fully paid, I was so excited,” Rodu said. “It was December, and honestly, it was the best Christmas gift ever. It allowed me to have a fresh start for the new year!” 

Rodu quickly texted her employer Emily, a franchisee who co-owns and operates 13 Great Clips® salons across North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota with her business partner Cary. “I had to tell Emily how grateful I was!” Rodu said.

Rodu says she enjoys giving thorough consultations, making recommendations, and delivering personalized haircuts. “I also love showing customers how to style their hair!” she added. “Each customer is like a mini project for me!”  

New outlook, new goals 

Now that Rodu’s student loans are paid off, she has her sights set on a new goal—home ownership. 

Emily and Cary started the First-Time Home Buyer Bonus program three years ago, and already three of their team members have received the benefit. “This one is especially close to our hearts,” Emily said. “Cary has deep roots in real estate and strongly believes in the power of home ownership. We know that owning a home is a major goal for many stylists, and this program helps reward them for achieving that goal.” 

Rodu agrees, “With the support of Emily and Cary, I know I can do it.”
